Racing Incident Report

On arrival at the barriers, GOOD HONG KONG, which made contact with a rail, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said whilst the horse had sustained a superficial abrasion on the left hindquarters, it was passed suitable to race.
PERI PERI SAFFRON and STREET CAT were slow to begin.
From a wide barrier, OCEAN POWER was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
After the 1000 Metres, SICHUAN EXEC was left racing wide and without cover.
Passing the 1000 Metres, OCEAN POWER was awkwardly placed inside the heels of GOOD HONG KONG which shifted in.
Passing the 700 Metres, GOOD HONG KONG and OCEAN POWER bumped, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced.
PERI PERI SAFFRON was held up for a run in the early part of the Straight and after the 400 Metres was shifted out to obtain clear running. Near the 200 Metres, PERI PERI SAFFRON was then awkwardly placed inside the heels of MEDIC SWORDSMAN.
After the 200 Metres, BRIGHT STAR (W C Marwing), which was having difficulty securing clear running, was steadied and shifted to the outside of JUN JU to obtain clear running, resulting in GOOD HONG KONG being crowded for room inside OCEAN POWER. W C Marwing was advised to exercise care.
Over the concluding stages, LORD DRAGON was awkwardly placed inside the heels of FLORAL MAN. Because of this, LORD DRAGON was not able to be fully tested.
The Clerk of the Scales reported that J Moreira, the rider of first placed, SICHUAN EXEC, had weighed in 0.9 of a pound underweight. Acting under the powers of Rule 113(3) which provides that if a jockey cannot draw the correct weight the Clerk of the Scales shall allow him one pound, the Stewards declared weighed-in on the numbers semaphored by the Judge. After being interviewed regarding this matter, J Moreira was reminded of his obligation to ensure that he weighs in at the correct weight.
A veterinary inspection of GOOD HONG KONG immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SICHUAN EXEC and MEDIC SWORDSMAN were sent for sampling.
