Racing Incident Report

FLYING KEEPER was slow to begin.
Shortly after the start, DRAGON CHOICE was bumped by GOOD LUCK WIN which shifted out.
After the 900 Metres, COSMO ONE was awkwardly placed outside the heels of MARVEL PLUS.
For some distance after the 700 Metres, MARVEL PLUS and TANG PALACE raced tight.
Near the 450 Metres, COSMO ONE was steadied when unable to improve into tight running inside MARVEL PLUS which got its head on the side and was inclined to lay in.
A veterinary inspection of TRILLION TREASURE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of TRILLION TREASURE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, TRILLION TREASURE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When questioned regarding his riding of WINE LOVERS in the early stages, T Berry stated that he had been asked to ride the horse in about a midfield position if possible. He said after beginning well he allowed JOLLY POSH, which was being aggressively ridden to his outside, to cross as it was apparent to him that that horse would be ridden into a forward position. He said after travelling about 50 Metres, he commenced to ride WINE LOVERS along to ensure that he was able to comply with his instructions. He said however that WINE LOVERS did not initially respond to his riding and for this reason he had to ride the horse more aggressively in an attempt to have it travel in a midfield position. He said despite being ridden along WINE LOVERS did not show any early speed and consequently got further out of its ground in the early stages than had been anticipated. He said he was obliged to ride WINE LOVERS along after the 800 Metres as the horse was struggling to maintain its position. He added although WINE LOVERS closed off the race satisfactorily, nonetheless the horse did not travel in the early and middle stages as it did at its most recent start.
When questioned, J Moreira stated that he had been asked to obtain cover on SHANGHAI PIONEER and it was felt that this would be in about a midfield position. He said SHANGHAI PIONEER began very well and he rode the horse along for a short distance to ensure that it was able to maintain a position. He said shortly after the start he steadied SHANGHAI PIONEER with a view to allowing horses drawn more widely to cross SHANGHAI PIONEER and provide his mount with cover. He said however that SHANGHAI PIONEER proved difficult to settle and raced too keenly in the run to the first turn. He added the manner in which SHANGHAI PIONEER was travelling together with the fact that horses widely drawn did not continue forward as anticipated resulted in SHANGHAI PIONEER racing further forward in the field than intended. A veterinary inspection of SHANGHAI PIONEER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of MARVEL PLUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
JOLLY POSH and WINE LOVERS were sent for sampling.
