Racing Incident Report

SUNNY MAJOR shifted out at the start and bumped GREAT SON which in turn shifted out, causing KWAI CHUNG ELITE to be crowded for room inside BLOOMING SPIRIT (J Moreira) which itself was bumped on jumping by FIRE AND GOLD which shifted in. From wide barriers, KWAI CHUNG ELITE and FIRE AND GOLD were then shifted across behind runners. J Moreira stated that as it was intended for BLOOMING SPIRIT to be ridden in a forward position, he rode his mount along for a short distance, however, BLOOMING SPIRIT did not show any early speed and because of this he shifted his mount across behind runners a short distance after the start to obtain cover.
After travelling a short distance, YEE CHEONG LUCKY was awkwardly placed inside the heels of I’M THE CONQUIST which shifted in.
Also after travelling a short distance, FARM BUMPER was bumped by MY DEAR which shifted out.
Passing the 900 Metres, SUNNY MAJOR shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of ART OF RAW which became momentarily unbalanced.
Near the 700 Metres, SUNNY MAJOR was left racing wide and without cover.
Making the turn passing the 600 Metres, MY DEAR was awkwardly placed inside the heels of I’M THE CONQUIST.
YEE CHEONG LUCKY made the turn after the 600 Metres awkwardly.
Near the 400 Metres, YEE CHEONG LUCKY, which was being shifted to the outside of MY DEAR, was steadied and directed back in to avoid causing interference to KWAI CHUNG ELITE which was improving to its outside.
MY DEAR brushed the running rail rounding the Home Turn.
Passing the 300 Metres and again near the 250 Metres, ART OF RAW and GREAT SON raced tight as GREAT SON shifted in marginally.
Passing the 200 Metres, FOX CHEUNGER raced in restricted room inside ART OF RAW which was taken in by GREAT SON which was then corrected by its rider and shifted out.
Approaching the 150 Metres, the whip of A Sanna (I’M THE CONQUIST) became momentarily entangled in the reins.
Passing the 150 Metres, NASHASHUK was shifted out away from the heels of GREAT SON to continue improving.
Over the concluding stages, KWAI CHUNG ELITE got its head on the side and shifted in away from FIRE AND GOLD and proved difficult to ride.
After the race, K C Leung reported that he had been riding FARM BUMPER in its track work in the lead up to tonight’s race including in a barrier trial and that work had been good. He said FARM BUMPER travelled very well in the early and middle stages, however, after shifting out into clear running rounding the Home Turn FARM BUMPER did not quicken and was very disappointing in its failure to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of FARM BUMPER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The Veterinary Officer reported that immediately after the race FOX CHEUNGER appeared to be short in its action, however, a subsequent veterinary examination of that horse revealed no significant findings.
I’M THE CONQUIST and BLOOMING SPIRIT were sent for sampling.
