Racing Incident Report

SWOT TROOPERS WIND and WINNING VOLATILITY bumped at the start.
FAST PACE shifted out at the start. STUNNING IMPACT then shifted out away from FAST PACE and in doing so bumped OWNERS’ STAR which was taken out onto BRIGHT VISION which, after beginning only fairly, was then crowded for room and taken out onto RED ELYSEES, causing BRIGHT VISION and RED ELYSEES to bump and RED ELYSEES to be crowded for room inside SWOT TROOPERS WIND which became badly unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by RED ELYSEES.
SUPER BULLET stood flat-footed as the start was effected and lost ground. SUPER BULLET was then allowed to improve its position in the early stages to race outside the lead and then came under heavy pressure passing the 550 Metres. SUPER BULLET then gave ground abruptly and in the Straight was eased down. A veterinary inspection of SUPER BULLET immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of SUPER BULLET was considered unacceptable. Having regard to the manner in which the horse gave ground abruptly prior to the Home Turn, the Stewards ruled that SUPER BULLET must perform satisfactorily in a series of consecutive barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being permitted to race again. When SUPER BULLET gave ground, STUNNING IMPACT, which was following, was unable to avoid that horse, resulting in STUNNING IMPACT being checked for some distance away from SUPER BULLET and being taken back through the field. When being taken back through the field, STUNNING IMPACT shifted out and bumped OWNERS’ STAR near the 450 Metres. HANG’S DECISION, which was laying out, was awkwardly placed inside the heels of STUNNING IMPACT approaching the 400 Metres.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, METHANE raced tight between SWOT TROOPERS WIND and RAINBOW LIGHT.
OWNERS’ STAR travelled wide and without cover until near the 1000 Metres.
At the entrance to the Straight, CROWN AVENUE and FAST PACE raced tight as FAST PACE improved into tight running between CROWN AVENUE and BRIGHT VISION.
Passing the 300 Metres, SWOT TROOPERS WIND was very awkwardly placed close to the heels of BRIGHT VISION when being directed to the outside of that horse to obtain clear running.
When being shifted to the outside of CROWN AVENUE approaching the 250 Metres, SWOT TROOPERS WIND shifted out and bumped OWNERS’ STAR.
Approaching the 50 Metres, K Teetan (METHANE) dropped his right rein which he was able to regather close to the finishing line.
Throughout the race, CROWN AVENUE travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of BRIGHT VISION, A Badel stated that after beginning only fairly and then becoming unbalanced when hampered shortly after the start, BRIGHT VISION was able to gradually improve to obtain a forward position passing the winning post on the first occasion. He said he was able to cross runners to his inside and race in the lead passing the 1200 Metres. He said BRIGHT VISION travelled somewhat keenly in the middle stages with SUPER BULLET racing to its outside and BRIGHT VISION did not relax as much as he had hoped. He said he was able to ride BRIGHT VISION quietly until near the 400 Metres at which stage he placed the horse under pressure. He said BRIGHT VISION did not respond to his riding and immediately came under pressure and then in the Straight gave ground and was disappointing. A veterinary inspection of BRIGHT VISION immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its left front leg and also a "roarer” which had previously been reported. The performance of BRIGHT VISION, favourite for tonight’s race and which finished towards the rear of the field, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BRIGHT VISION will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of OWNERS’ STAR and STUNNING IMPACT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
BRIGHT VISION, WINNING VOLATILITY and METHANE were sent for sampling.
