3 WILLING STORM (CJ187) W C Marwing H Broke well but was soon eased off to a position behind midfield. 5Ls behind leader as they settled, made a powerful surge inside 200 M to wear down the leader close home and recorded his 3rd win over the course and distance.
10 VENI VEDI VICI (CJ081) M Du Plessis PC/TT In midfield and travelled well throughout the trip, showed good acceleration to take it up 150 M out, looked a winner until the winner emerged near 50 M. Creditable effort in defeat.
6 DOUBLE LUCK (CH239) H W Lai -- Drifted back to a position behind midfield, well covered on turning, stayed on soundly from off the pace for third.
9 NOBLE MAN (CC099) W M Lai -- Switched off to the rear in early stages as expected, had 6Ls to make up turning in, took a while to clear before putting in a late effort that was always falling a little short.
2 BEAR MACHO (CG152) E Saint-Martin -- Jumped well, obtained an inside run in mid-division, had a smooth run to straight but was held up on the fence to 200 M, picked up nicely once into clear.
7 DIAMOND BRILLIANCE (CH002) K C Leung B/TT Rushed to the front on jumping from the wide barrier, led them along at a decent tempo, kept on till 200 M but found no extra in the closing stages.
1 HONGKONG SUPERSTAR (CH167) D Whyte CP/TT Swiftly away, placed on the inside just off the pace, box-seated early in straight but couldn't step up a gear when cleared 200 M.
12 FULL PACK (CJ312) C K Tong -- Taken back on jumping, towards the rear 6Ls back, taken wide approaching the home straight but failed to pick up from behind. Never threatened.
8 PLAN B (CJ123) M Chadwick TT In a forward position but was forced wide without cover, held every chance going into straight but couldn't accelerate when the race got serious, faded tamely inside final 150 M.
5 SUPERIOR UNIT (CJ045) K L Chui B/TT Average beginning, gradually crept up to race one out one back from leader, under pressure early in straight, unable to keep on and weakened rapidly passing 200 M.
11 CIRCULAR MACHINE (CG049) C W Wong B Had the inside draw but struggled to hold a position, raced in last detached trailing over 10Ls, never able to pick up. Disappointing run albeit his first start after a long layoff.
4 CANNONISE (CD377) B Prebble B/TT Began well but shifted very wide after the first turn, couldn't slot in throughout the race and was beaten turning for home. (Jockey questioned.)
