3 6 ORIENTAL PROSPER (N100) W C Marwing CP/TT Jumped well and moved swiftly from midfield to outside rail. Kept on well in the straight to be closest at the finish.
4 1 SIR EAGLES (M403) D Whyte B No early speed but hugged the outside rail from start to finish. Was doing best work over final 400m.
5 2 HAWTHORNE (L136) U Rispoli -- Jumped well to be second early, then third. Dropped back to sixth entering course proper but kept on steadily to the line.
6 8 WINNIE'S HORSE (P169) M Chadwick TT Ridden up from inside draw to race close to the pace. Got to withing 4th entering course proper, turning one-paced.
7 13 DISCIPLES TWELVE (P018) K C Leung -- Bumped start then awkwardly placed close to heels 800m. Raced down centre of the track and only one-paced final 400m.
8 5 FORMULA WON (P183) T Clark -- Not comfortable with strong pace and raced on his own at rear. Niggled at 800m and finished off nicely, doing best work final 200m.
9 14 LUCKY SCEPTER (N174) R Fourie H/CP/TT Jumped fairly but no early pace and drifted back while moving closer to outside fence. Never dangerous and one-paced final.
10 3 MENTOR (N017) C Y Lui B Tightened for room shortly after start, recovered and raced in midfield, Crowded again closing stages when not in contention.
11 4 CASTLE HERO (M257) T Angland H/TT Bumped start but ridden up to sit third, 2L from leader 400m. Soon came under pressure and drifted back. Pulled up lame.
12 7 EVERYONE'S CHOICE (P208) B Prebble CP1 No early speed and raced at rear until 400m when had head on side and became difficult to ride. One-paced.
13 10 DELIGHT FORTUNE (N402) T H So -- Raced on his own down the centre of the track in midfield. Started to give ground entering course proper.
14 12 DAPPER BOY (N135) W M Lai -- Raced towards the rear but close to fence. Put under pressure 400m but became unbalanced and lost ground. Collapsed after race.
