Racing Incident Report
SUPER FORTUNE was slow to jump, then just after the start threw its head up. Running to the first turn, NO EXCUSES, which was taking some time to settle, was also inclined to be hanging in and for some distance was awkward on the heels of COLLEGE KID. In the early part of the Straight, the bandage on the near side hind leg of CIGAR KING loosened, trailed and before the line came off. Also in the early part of the Straight, CIGAR KING was steadied and shifted out from behind MONEY STAR to find running and go forward. Apprentice K H Yu (THE VITALITY STAR), in the presence of his allocated Trainer, Mr P F Yiu, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that at about the 200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in whilst riding it along when not clear of COLLEGE KID. As a consequence of this, COLLEGE KID lost the running to which it was rightfully entitled, was checked, shifted ground and caused crowding to BOUNTY GUARD. QUI VIVRA VERRA, which was following, was hampered in consequence. Apprentice K H Yu was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 28 September 2000 on which day he may resume race riding. The suspension is to take immediate effect. W Woods (CROWN REGENT) explained today he had been asked by the Trainer to ride the horse no worse than midfield if possible. He went on to say however on jumping CROWN REGENT came out awkwardly, bumped the outside of its gate and got further out of the race than had been the intention. He also pointed out during the run the horse at times appeared to be reluctant to hold its position and was inclined to drop the bit. After the race, it was reported that CASH FORTUNE had lost its off side front plate. TRULY DELIGHTED was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
