Racing Incident Report

MULTIZEN missed the start, was then further inconvenienced when crowded between BE MY HEART which shifted in and FLIRTING STAR which jumped awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. W C Marwing (MULTIZEN) said on jumping the saddle shifted back, this placed him at a disadvantage. On jumping, WINNING HURRAH shifted out and made contact with PRIME VAIN. A RUN OF LUCK left the gates badly and threw its head about, then for some distance near the 200 Metres was held up behind MASCOT and on the inside of DYNAMIC WINNINGS. To obtain running, A RUN OF LUCK was steadied and come out. About the 800 Metres, GRANDSTAND lost its position when awkwardly placed behind SUPERIOR DOLLAR. Near the 600 Metres, DYNAMIC WINNINGS brushed the running rail. Near the 400 Metres, PROSPERO shifted out to go forward. As a consequence of this, GRANDSTAND was carried onto the heels of FLIRTING STAR. About the 200 Metres, MULTIZEN was steadied and changed course abruptly to avoid SUPERIOR DOLLAR which was weakening. When shifting ground, MULTIZEN inconvenienced FLIRTING STAR which was also giving ground. For some distance after the 200 Metres, BE MY HEART had trouble obtaining clear running. When asked about the disappointing performance of SUPERIOR DOLLAR, C Brown said the horse left the gates well, was able to take up a prominent position and in his opinion travelled nicely in the run, but at about the 600 Metres when put under pressure SUPERIOR DOLLAR did not respond and over the concluding stages weakened right out of the race. As he was concerned with the horse's action, he did not ride it out in his normal fashion. The performance of SUPERIOR DOLLAR tonight was considered to be unacceptable and before the horse can race again, it will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subject to an official veterinary examination. SUPERIOR DOLLAR was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
