Racing Incident Report

On jumping, STRIKERS and MILLENNIUM SUPREME came together. GOLDEN DUKE and KOH-I-NOOR also bumped on leaving the gates. Just after the start, RED DIAMOND got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of MASTER MAGIC (L Dettori) which shifted in when barely clear. L Dettori will be told he must exercise more care. Also just after the start, DRAGON POWER was unnecessarily crowded for room between SILENT PARTNER and RED DIAMOND which was continuing to be difficult to settle, but was being taken in by MILLENNIUM SUPREME (A Starke) which shifted ground. A Starke was reprimanded and told he must exercise far more care than this when shifting ground and further he must make a greater effort at all times to protect the interests of his fellow riders. Near the 1000 Metres, GOLDEN DUKE got its head on the side and momentarily hung in. As a consequence of this, some crowding was caused to ARRIBA-ARRIBA. In the middle stages, DRAGON POWER had a tendency to lay in. W C Marwing (MANY HAPPY RETURNS) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding. The careless riding being that in the early part of the Straight he permitted his mount to shift out whilst riding it along when not clear of ARRIBA-ARRIBA. As a consequence of this, ARRIBA-ARRIBA was crowded onto DOLBRIDGE, lost the running to which it was rightfully entitled and was checked. After the Stewards deliberated on the matter and taking full account of all the submissions made by W C Marwing, they believe the appropriate penalty in this case was W C Marwing be suspended for a period to expire on Thursday, 4 January 2001 on which day he may resume race riding. The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the meeting at Sha Tin on 17 December 2000. About the 300 Metres, J Saimee (KOH-I-NOOR) dropped his whip. K Desormeaux (RED DIAMOND) was reprimanded for failing to ride his mount out at least hands and heels to the winning post. MASTER MAGIC was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
