Racing Incident Report
NAZAKAT II jumped very awkwardly, bumped the outside of its gate. On jumping, HERO'S CHOICE stumbled and almost fell, then just after the start was checked when crowded between SAINT TAK and STARLIGHT SUPREME which on leaving the gates shifted out abruptly. Just after the start, WINWIN COMBINATION was checked when crowded between ENERGY POWER and CHAMPION RANGER which shifted out abruptly after making contact with PROLIFIC WINNER. The occurrence was accidental. About the 700 Metres, TIME WELL was steadied when crowded between SPEEDY DRAGON and TRULY DELIGHTED which was hanging in. After this, TRULY DELIGHTED continued to hang in. In the early part of the Straight, SPEEDY DRAGON was steadied and shifted out when disappointed for running between STARLIGHT SUPREME and COQ D'OR which shifted away from the rail. After the 200 Metres, W M Lai (TRULY DELIGHTED) dropped his whip. About the 100 Metres, NAZAKAT II was steadied and shifted out abruptly. After the 100 Metres, SAINT TAK was steadied when crowded by RIGHT ON which shifted in slightly when improving. Apprentice S K Sit (CHAMPION RANGER) explained he had been instructed to ride the horse in front if possible although it was known the horse was running over a distance which was probably short of its best. He said CHAMPION RANGER left the gates well and shortly after the start CHAMPION RANGER had to check when crowded between WINWIN COMBINATION and PROLIFIC WINNER. He went on to say when checking CHAMPION RANGER the horse lost its action and it took him some time to re-gather the horse and ensure it was again properly balanced. He said then running to the first turn when endeavouring to go forward the horse was hanging in and as he was causing some inconvenience to HERO'S CHOICE, he again had to stop riding and shift CHAMPION RANGER out, as a consequence of this CHAMPION RANGER again lost momentum and at about the 700 Metres finished up at the tail of the field. COQ D'OR was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
