Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the barriers, C Brown (APPLAUSE FOR ME) reported to the Veterinary Surgeon that on the way to the Start the horse had made contact with a railing. APPLAUSE FOR ME was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after this he discussed the incident with C Brown and then decided the horse was suitable to race. After the race, C Brown said he was of the view the horse was sore in front. As a consequence, he did not ride it out. LIFO jumped very awkwardly with its head up and bumped the outside of its gate. ENERGY POWER jumped a little awkwardly. On jumping, APPLAUSE FOR ME and TRULY DELIGHTED bumped. About the 1100 Metres, ENERGY POWER was checked rather severely when crowded by CHUK WAY which itself was awkwardly placed inside INCA ROSE which was being taken in by HAPPY PRINCE (G Mossé) which shifted in of its own accord after initially being taken in when racing close to the heels of TRULY DELIGHTED as it shifted across to be in front. The check to ENERGY POWER was one of considerable significance and the general crowding which occurred was far from satisfactory. However, the Stewards took the view that because of the circumstances this was a borderline case and gave the benefit of the doubt to G Mossé because they did not believe they had enough evidence to clearly prove a breach of the Rule had occurred. He was however told in slightly different circumstances a charge of careless riding would almost certainly be preferred against him. About the 700 Metres, INCA ROSE, which had a tendency to be over-racing, became unbalanced and checked when crowded between HAPPY PRINCE which shifted out slightly away from LUCKY MEANINGS and LUCKY AHEAD (W C Marwing) which shifted in when not clear. When INCA ROSE checked, it shifted in, causing inconvenience to CHUK WAY and LIFO. Because of the circumstances involved, it was decided not to take any direct action, but W C Marwing was severely reprimanded. Near the 200 Metres, INCA ROSE was checked when disappointed for running between LUCKY MEANINGS and CHUK WAY. When attempting the run, INCA ROSE bumped the hindquarters of CHUK WAY and because of this CHUK WAY was momentarily unbalanced. Throughout the race, TRULY DELIGHTED hung in. After the race, it was noted that LUCKY AHEAD had lost its off side hind plate. Following the race, it was reported that HAPPY PRINCE was bleeding from both nostrils.
