Racing Incident Report

Whilst parading behind the Start, BEETLE kicked out behind and made contact with a rail. The horse was trotted up, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who did discuss the situation with the Jockey and it was then decided BEETLE was suitable to race. SMART MONEY missed the start slightly and was then further inconvenienced when crowded by POWER HOUSE which on jumping shifted in abruptly. Rounding the turn the first time, FIVE STARS SHINING, which was pulling, was unbalanced when awkward on the heels of STAR OF ARCHITECT. CHAMPION BOMB made the Home Turn awkwardly, got its head up and hung out. In the Straight, SMART MONEY hung in. R Fradd (INDIAN TAIPAN) said at no stage of the race was the horse comfortable in the going and then after the race it was noted the horse had lost its off side front plate. E Saint-Martin (INVINCIBLE GENERAL) said it was the first time he had ridden the horse in a race and had only ridden it once in the morning work. He said that work was satisfactory and he understood from the connections that the horse would run well tonight. He said INVINCIBLE GENERAL travelled satisfactorily in the run, but started to give ground a long way out and generally in his opinion was very disappointing. He said he did not believe the going was a major factor in the poor run of INVINCIBLE GENERAL. INVINCIBLE GENERAL was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that INVINCIBLE GENERAL had sustained abrasions to both hind legs.
