Racing Incident Report

Whilst parading, the bit on the bridle of MERRY MERRY broke. This was replaced before the horse was mounted. On arriving at the barriers, the Veterinary Surgeon noted blood in the mouth of SHINING CROWN. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. V-CAN, which was restless after being boxed, left the gates awkwardly. On jumping SPARKY threw its head about and stumbled slightly. Also on jumping, TRICCOLO and MERRY MERRY came together. Near the 900 Metres, FLAMENCO STAR and SOMLUCK bumped when racing tight between SPARKY and TRICCOLO. Over the latter stages of the race, FLAMENCO STAR hung out. Near the 400 Metres, LIFELINE EXPRESS was disappointed for running between VICTORY MARBLE and V-CAN. About the 300 Metres, LIFELINE EXPRESS was shifted to the inside of VICTORY MARBLE to find running and endeavour to go forward. E Legrix (EXULTATION) said whilst the horse's work had not been exceptional, it had trialed nicely recently at Sha Tin and it was anticipated the horse would run competitively today. He said the intention was if possible to lead, but if there was a lot of speed on in the race, then he should take a sit. He said EXULTATION only travelled well to the first 200 Metres and after that did not travel as hoped and was a beaten horse a long way out. LIFELINE EXPRESS and EXULTATION were sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, it was reported that VICTORY MARBLE had lost its near side front plate.
