Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, TIME WELL bounded in the air, as a consequence lost a lot of ground. About the 800 Metres, FLYING KNIGHT and WIN HAPPINESS came together. An inquiry was opened into the reason for SALLIAN EXPRESS (D Dunn) falling at about the 500 Metres. Evidence was taken from W M Lai (WIN HAPPINESS), G Mossé (SUPER CONNECTIONS), Apprentice C H Tse (CORE PRINCIPLES), E Legrix (HORSE OF HEALTHY) and Apprentice S K Sit (TIME WELL). Evidence was also taken from Mr A S Cruz, allocated Trainer of Apprentice C H Tse. The preliminary evidence indicated that near the 600 Metres WIN HAPPINESS broke down, W M Lai was endeavouring to ease the horse out of the race and drifted away slightly from the running rail. At about the 500 Metres, Apprentice C H Tse endeavoured to improve inside WIN HAPPINESS where there was insufficient room to do so. When trying to improve, CORE PRINCIPLES made contact with the hind legs of WIN HAPPINESS, was checked and knuckled. SALLIAN EXPRESS, which was following, ran onto the hindquarters of CORE PRINCIPLES and fell. HORSE OF HEALTHY, which was following, was severely checked in consequence, almost dislodging E Legrix, and shifted out. TIME WELL was also severely checked and shifted out. The matter will be concluded when evidence is taken from D Dunn who was unavailable due to being conveyed to hospital. In the run to the winning post, SHAXI TREASURE (J Egan) had a tendency to change legs and lay in. Because of this the horse was not ridden out right to the winning post as it normally would be. CORE PRINCIPLES was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon said WIN HAPPINESS was lame in its off side front leg. Before being allowed to race again, WIN HAPPINESS will have to perform satisfactorily in at least one official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Also following the race, SALLIAN EXPRESS was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He said the horse was lame in its off side hind leg and it also lost its near side front plate. Before being allowed to race again, SALLIAN EXPRESS will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
