Racing Incident Report

Prior to being presented in the Parade Ring, CELESTIAL CHIEF had a nail replaced to its off side hind plate. The horse was trotted up, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who decided CELESTIAL CHIEF was suitable to race. After arriving at the barriers, the toe clip on the near side hind plate of FOREST SPRING was adjusted. KINDRED SPIRITS jumped awkwardly and threw its head up. MONARDS left the gates awkwardly, shifted out and caused some inconvenience to TEQUILA POP. After the 1600 Metres, KINDRED SPIRITS was steadied to avoid TEQUILA POP which was taken in slightly by MONARDS which shifted to be racing on the rail behind GOOD HEAVENS. For some distance in the early part of the Straight, RAINBOW AND GOLD was awkwardly placed and to obtain running after the 300 Metres RAINBOW AND GOLD was steadied and improved on the outside of PEAK POWER. About the 400 Metres, GOOD HEAVENS was momentarily unbalanced and dipped. Apprentice M W Leung (TRIUMPHANT FEELING) said he had been instructed by the Assistant Trainer to make sure he did not fight with the horse, if it left the gates well and took up a forward position, he was to allow it to travel there, however, if the horse did not leave the gates quickly, he was asked to travel somewhere towards the middle. He said TRIUMPHANT FEELING jumped well, took up a forward position and rather than fight with the horse, he allowed it to maintain a forward position.
