Racing Incident Report

CANNY'S PRIDE, which was restless after being boxed, jumped awkwardly and threw its head about. SECOND OPINION, which was standing with its head turned slightly to the off side, missed the start. LUCKY SUPERSTAR was slowly away and was then ridden along with the whip in an endeavour to maintain a position. FLOWERS PRIDE left the gates very awkwardly and shifted out. As a consequence of this, Apprentice Y T Cheng bumped the gate with his left leg. SNIPPEDYDOODA (R Fradd) missed the start slightly, just after the 800 Metres commenced to hang out badly and then about the 400 Metres R Fradd dropped his whip. H K Yim (SENSIBLE WAY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding. The careless riding being that he permitted his mount to shift in at about 800 Metres when not clear of LATIN DANCER. As a consequence of this, LATIN DANCER lost the running to which it was rightfully entitled and was checked. When LATIN DANCER checked, inconvenience was caused to SECOND OPINION and SNIPPEDYDOODA which were following. After the Stewards had given full consideration to all the circumstances of this case, it was decided that H K Yim be suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday, 13 May 2001 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong race days). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley meeting next Wednesday. In the middle stages, SUPER RED WINE hung out. Running to the Home Turn, the saddle on LUCKY SUPERSTAR shifted back, this placed E Legrix at a disadvantage over the concluding stages. Throughout the race, PO ON WIN hung out.
