Racing Incident Report

RACE TO HONOUR was withdrawn on 11.12.01 on veterinary grounds (sore off fore tendon). Before racing again, RACE TO HONOUR will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. On jumping, FAIR LADY shifted in abruptly and bumped HAPPY FORTUNE. About the 1000 Metres, CUPID was steadied when momentarily tight inside MULTIZEN. In the early part of the Straight, MENTOR momentarily drifted away from the rail. CUPID, which was following, endeavoured to improve inside MENTOR which after drifting away almost immediately shifted back to a position right on the rail. As a consequence of this, CUPID was initially disappointed for the running, then held up until well after the 200 Metres where the horse was shifted to the outside of DIAMOND TALENTS, found running and went forward. When asked about the disappointing run of FAT CHOY TOGETHER, K H Ting said he had been asked if possible to lead; if not then ride the horse somewhere about the middle, then improve along the Back Straight. He said the pace of the race tonight clearly did not suit FAT CHOY TOGETHER and over the concluding stages the horse was very disappointing. Before FAT CHOY TOGETHER can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. A Marcus (MULTIZEN) explained he had not anticipated tonight's race would be run at a strong pace and accordingly he took his mount into a forward position. He said when MENTOR led, there was a little more speed than he anticipated and then when STRATEGIC MOVE improved around his outside near the Back Straight, he felt he had little option but to go forward. A Marcus said in hindsight he was of the view he had ridden MULTIZEN too far forward tonight and commenced his run too far out. In different circumstances he would have ridden the horse with more patience. MULTIZEN and ROUND THE WORLD were sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, it was noted that STRATEGIC MOVE was bleeding from the near nostril. An endoscopic examination was performed and this revealed that the bleeding was from the nasal passage only. The Veterinary Surgeon said the trachea was clear. Accordingly STRATEGIC MOVE was not deemed to have suffered a bleeding attack.
