Racing Incident Report

SCENIC WONDER was slowly away. On jumping, DANDY BUNNY bumped the hindquarters of ALL WIN. W M Lai (WASABI) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)]. The careless riding being that near the winning post the first time, he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of DOLBRIDGE. Because of this, DOLBRIDGE was checked rather severely to avoid the heels of WASABI and shifted out. This caused some inconvenience to ALL WIN. W M Lai was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday 13 January 2002 on which day he may resume race riding (4 Hong Kong race days). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the meeting at Sha Tin next Wednesday 26 December 2001. Turning out of the Straight the first time, FRENCH CONNECTION was steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of GRAND FIGHTER. Approaching and rounding the Home Turn, SCENIC WONDER hung out, this caused some inconvenience to ST ALANN. Rounding the latter part of the Home Turn and in the Straight, ALL WIN hung out badly, because of this proved very difficult to ride out. About the 200 Metres, DANDY BUNNY was steadied and shifted to the outside of DOLLARS AND SENSE to find running and go forward. DOLLARS AND SENSE raced ungenerously throughout and on occasions got its head on the side and hung in. ST ALANN was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon said WASABI was lame near front leg. Before the horse can race again, it will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
