Racing Incident Report
Just after the start, SUPERIOR TITLE and GOLDEN BELL came together. A Marcus (WINWIN COMBINATION) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)]. The careless riding being that near the 700 Metres he shifted his mount in when not clear of BEIJING DOLLAR, in doing so bumped that horse, causing it to be unnecessarily unbalanced. Further, he then allowed his mount to continue to shift in to race outside SPEEDY CHAMPION when not clear of BEIJING DOLLAR. As a consequence of this, BEIJING DOLLAR was unnecessarily crowded for room and HANDSOME FORTUNE which was racing to its inside was also crowded. The Stewards deliberated in relation to a penalty and after taking full account all the submissions put by A Marcus and his race riding record this season in Hong Kong which the Stewards considered unsatisfactory, they believed the appropriate penalty was for his licence to ride in races be suspended until Thursday 18 April 2002 on which day he may resume race riding (5 Hong Kong race days). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the meeting next Saturday 30 March 2002 at Sha Tin. On straightening, BEIJING DOLLAR, which was giving ground, was steadied when tightened for room between BOLD'N POWER and HANDSOME FORTUNE which shifted out to find running and go forward. About the 300 Metres, SUPERIOR TITLE was steadied and shifted out when disappointed for running inside SPEEDY CHAMPION. After the 200 Metres, WINWIN COMBINATION, which was giving ground, was unbalanced when momentarily crowded between HANDSOME FORTUNE and SUPERIOR TITLE which was improving outside SPEEDY CHAMPION. Also after the 200 Metres, ARROWMINT, which was making some ground, was steadied and shifted in to avoid BEIJING DOLLAR. GOLDEN BELL was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
