Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the course, ACE ACADEMY had its off side hind plate refitted. FAIRWAY FINDER jumped very awkwardly, threw its head about and shifted out, this resulted in the horse losing a lot of ground. WILFUL FLIGHT jumped awkwardly, bumped the inside of the starting stall. Just after the start, MONEY was steadied when close to the heels of SOUND LOVER. About 100 Metres out, TAI PO FRIEND was accidentally hit on the head by the whip of Apprentice S K Sit (ILIKETOSMILE). Almost right on the winning post, TAI PO FRIEND shifted some ground in and brushed ILIKETOSMILE. Mr K L Man, trainer of TAI PO FRIEND, said when the horse last raced which was towards the early part of April, he was told by K H Ting after the race that TAI PO FRIEND was reluctant to race close to other horses, appeared to be lacking concentration and it was suggested he try the blinkers. Mr Man said the horse did put on some body weight since its last run, has been working in blinkers and in his opinion working better. He did tell the owner tonight he thought the blinkers might improve the performance of TAI PO FRIEND, but did not think the horse had a winning chance. The explanations put forward by Mr Man were accepted. WELL BEST was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
