Racing Incident Report
COOL SWING left the gates very awkwardly with its head up, shifted in abruptly and bumped the hindquarters of MY DELIGHT which in turn shifted ground and made contact with FIGHTING MASCOT. COOL SWING made the first turn awkwardly with its head up, then for some distance approaching the Home Turn raced with its head on the side when awkwardly placed close to the heels of TABBRIS. On jumping, CASH KING was crowded for room between GRANDWAY SHUTTLE which shifted out and TABBRIS which shifted in. Approaching the 800 Metres, GRANDWAY SHUTTLE steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of FAMOUS BRAND (Y T Cheng) which shifted in when not quite clear. Y T Cheng was told to exercise more care. About the 300 Metres, MY FORTUNE shifted out to go forward, in doing so bumped TABBRIS. Then in the run to the winning post, MY FORTUNE raced greenly. COOL SWING was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, COOL SWING was examined. No abnormalities were detected. MY FORTUNE and PALETTE NATURAL were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted FORECAST TO WIN was coughing. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who carried out an endoscopic examination. He said this revealed the horse had a significant amount of blood in the trachea. Before FORECAST TO WIN can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
Additional Veterinary Report (released on 25 Nov. 2002) :
After racing, COOL SWING was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. At that time no abnormalities were detected. However, on examination this morning 25 November 2002, the horse was found to be lame in its left front leg. Before COOL SWING can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
