Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, KIMBERLEY MINES became fractious, broke through the front of the gates and dislodged B Marcus. To avoid an unreasonable delay, KIMBERLEY MINES was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, KIMBERLEY MINES will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. After KIMBERLEY MINES broke through, Mr T O Lau, Deputy Starter, who was officiating for this race, directed all runners be released from the gates and then before asking them to be re-boxed, he tested the gates to ensure no damage had been done when KIMBERLEY MINES broke through. When the gates were tested, the bell which signifies the race start was activated. The Starter and the staff were advised in future when the gates are being tested, it is in the best interests of all if the lead to which the starting bell is connected be disengaged. AMO was slowly away. NANNING TREASURE jumped awkwardly and shifted out. CHEROKEE EXPRESS was slowly away, then raced ungenerously throughout and hung in. Throughout the race, BACCHUS hung out and because of this in the run to the winning post proved difficult to ride right out. NANNING TREASURE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that both SENSATIONAL and NANNING TREASURE were bleeding from both nostrils.
