Racing Incident Report
O Doleuze (DEVON ELITE) was fined $2,000 for returning to scale after the race 2 lbs over his declared weight [Rule 113(2)]. STARWAY PATROL, which had been fractious in the barrier, was slow to begin and then in the early stages did not stretch out. STARWAY PATROL was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, STARWAY PATROL was examined by the Veterinary Officer. An endoscopic examination was carried out. This showed the horse to be a "roarer". The Veterinary Officer also said on examination STARWAY PATROL was lame in the left hind leg. The performance of STARWAY PATROL was considered unacceptable. Before the horse can race again, it will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. DEVON ELITE bounded in the air at the start. CHARIOT OF STORM was slow to begin. On jumping, GENERAL KINGY shifted out. This caused inconvenience to ONE STEP AHEAD. At the 1000 Metres, AMBITIOUS LEADER became unbalanced. Making the Home Turn, GENERAL KINGY hung out. At the 200 Metres, E Saint-Martin (KEV BUSHIDO) dropped his whip. FLYING GENERAL, SPARKY and CHARIOT OF STORM were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted CHARIOT OF STORM had lost its right fore plate.
