Racing Incident Report

INDUSTRIAL PRIDE and KINDRED SPIRITS were slow to begin. In the early stages, MULTIWINNING proved very difficult to settle, making the first turn got its head up and shifted out abruptly, causing GOOD FIT to be checked, then for some distance continued to prove difficult to settle and get its head up, near the 1600 Metres took charge of S Dye, its rider, and went forward into the lead. Near the 1200 Metres, UNIVERSAL CHARGER was steadied to avoid the heels of SERIOUS PLAY which was racing tight inside XLERATE. Near the 1000 Metres, XLERATE became unbalanced and shifted out abruptly when close to the heels of BLUE STITCH. This caused inconvenience to SERIOUS PLAY and OLYMPIC GOLD which as a result was carried wider and forced to race without cover. After this, OLYMPIC GOLD went forward to join the lead. Near the 300 Metres, XLERATE became unbalanced when bumped by GOOD FIT which was taken out slightly by SONGS OF PRAISE. Near the 200 Metres, GOOD FIT was checked when crowded for room between XLERATE which shifted in slightly as a result of hanging and SONGS OF PRAISE which was taken out slightly by OLYMPIC GOLD (W C Marwing). In the circumstances, it was decided appropriate no action would be taken, however, W C Marwing was advised to exercise more care. The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in while they decided if OLYMPIC GOLD had had an unfair start. The official videos at the start were reviewed and evidence was taken from W C Marwing, the rider of OLYMPIC GOLD. The evidence disclosed that when the gates opened, OLYMPIC GOLD was standing correctly, then bounded in the air, causing W C Marwing, its rider, to become unbalanced and reach down momentarily with his left arm in an endeavour to stabilize himself. As OLYMPIC GOLD was standing correctly when the start was effected, the Stewards deemed the horse to have had a fair start and was therefore declared a runner. BLUE STITCH and SEASONS TREASURE were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported PRIZE WINNER had returned with a cut to the left hind cannon.
