Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, R Fradd (GIVE ME FIVE) expressed concern over the horse's action during its preliminary. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was lame in the left hind. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of GIVE ME FIVE. Before being allowed to race again, GIVE ME FIVE will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. Whilst parading behind the barriers, HAPPY TOGETHER was kicked by another runner and sustained a small laceration to its right hind hock. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultations was considered suitable to race. SUNDAY DELIGHT was difficult to load. Before being allowed to race again, SUNDAY DELIGHT will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. SUNDAY DELIGHT began awkwardly, got its head up and shortly after the start was bumped on the shoulder by DYNAMIC VISION which shifted out. SUPER IDEAL was a little slow to begin. HARVEY MUDD and COSMO SUCCESS were slow to begin. In the early and middle stages, DYNAMIC VISION raced wide and without cover. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, HARVEY MUDD hung out. This caused some inconvenience to HAPPY TOGETHER. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, SUNDAY DELIGHT got its head up, hung out badly and was checked away from the heels of SUPER IDEAL. Also making the turn at the 800 Metres, SHINING DRAGON was proving difficult to settle and got its head up, then near the 600 Metres shifted in away from DYNAMIC VISION. This caused crowding to MANAU which was bumped on several occasions. In the Straight, CHING HOI BOY hung in. H K Yim (FLYING KENNY) was fined $2,000 for making a celebratory gesture well prior to the winning post. G Schofield (MANAU) said the horse only began fairly, but was able to obtain a nice position behind the speed. He said when MANAU was bumped on several occasions in the middle sages, the horse appeared to lose concentration, did not stride out and lost its position. He said in the Straight MANAU failed to quicken when asked to do so and overall was disappointing. MANAU was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, MANAU was examined by the Veterinary Officer and was noted to have a nasal discharge. Before being allowed to race again, MANAU will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. FLYING KENNY and HAPPY TOGETHER were sent for sampling.
