Racing Incident Report

SPECTACULAR WIN, which was standing awkwardly, was slow to begin. On jumping, ELVIS and HOLY WINE were checked when crowded for room between WIN FORTUNE and GOOD BOY, both of which shifted ground. FLYING FAST began awkwardly, shifted in and caused crowding to LUCKY BIRD. CHAMPION BOY was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, WIN FORTUNE, which was proving difficult to settle, was bumped by PERFECT VISION. Near the 1400 Metres, GLOBAL POWER was steadied when crowded for room between GANBARIA STAR and FLYING FAST which got its head on the side and was racing tight inside GOOD BOY. At the 1300 Metres, FLYING FAST was steadied back and away from the heels of WIN FORTUNE which steadied slightly in front. GLOBAL POWER and HOLY WINE, which were following, were checked in consequence. In the circumstances, no action was taken. At the 600 Metres, CHAMPION BOY was disappointed for running between LUCKY BIRD and FLYING FAST. Near the 300 Metres, LUCKY TIME was steadied and shifted to the outside of JUMBO LUCK which was giving ground. After the 200 Metres, LUCKY TIME initially shifted in. This caused some inconvenience to JUMBO LUCK. Then near the winning post, LUCKY TIME shifted out and caused some inconvenience to FLYING FAST. D Beasley (PERFECT VISION) said he had been instructed to ride the horse aggressively from the start and hopefully obtain a position around 4th, 5th or 6th. He said racing in blinkers again today PERFECT VISION began well and he initially rode it along in accordance with his instructions. He said the horse reached the lead shortly after the start and he elected to allow it to hold that position as it appeared to be travelling comfortably for him. He said PERFECT VISION continued to travel comfortably until the 800 Metres when WIN FORTUNE improved to be racing upsides him. He said as soon as this occurred, PERFECT VISION appeared to lose interest and then in the Straight failed to finish the race off. The explanations submitted by D Beasley were accepted. UNITY and GLOBAL POWER were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, UNITY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said he was unable to find any significant abnormalities. The performance of UNITY, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, UNITY will be required to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Also after the race, GLOBAL POWER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus and blood in the horse's trachea. Before being permitted to race again, GLOBAL POWER will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. GOOD BOY and LUCKY BIRD were sent for sampling.
