Racing Incident Report
OPTIC FRIENDLY was withdrawn on 10.6.03 on veterinary grounds (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter GOOD NEWS (R Fradd). Before being allowed to race again, OPTIC FRIENDLY will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. LATTE began awkwardly and shifted out. FORTUNE LIFE and EPIC EXPRESSION were slow to begin. NOBLE BOY began awkwardly and got its head up. ROUND THE WORLD began awkwardly and shifted out. This caused some crowding to SIMPLE SIMPLE. KOWLOON STAR began awkwardly, causing M Walker, its rider, to become unbalanced. From the outside barrier, CENTURY HORSE raced wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, LATTE was steadied when crowded for room inside GOOD NEWS which shifted in when over-racing and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of KOWLOON STAR. For some distance after this, GOOD NEWS continued to over-race and get its head up. Making the turn after the winning post on the first occasion, EXULTATION was steadied and lost its position when crowded for room inside FORTUNE LIFE which itself was racing tight inside EPIC EXPRESSION which was carried in slightly by CENTURY HORSE (A Marcus). The Stewards were satisfied that A Marcus immediately turned his horse's head out in an endeavour to relieve the pressure he was applying to the runners to his inside. Therefore no action was taken. Near the 1100 Metres, GOOD NEWS continued to prove difficult to settle and got its head up when close to the heels of KOWLOON STAR. This caused inconvenience to FORTUNE LIFE which was following. In the middle stages, EXULTATION over-raced and got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of LATTE. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, SIMPLE SIMPLE, which was giving ground, hung out. The performance of SIMPLE SIMPLE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SIMPLE SIMPLE will be required to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After the 400 Metres, LATTE was awkwardly placed inside the heels of KOWLOON STAR. In the Straight, GETMORE DANCER hung in. ROUND THE WORLD and LATTE were sent for sampling.
