Racing Incident Report

RED LANCER, second Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 9.10.03 on veterinary grounds (lame left fore limb). Before being allowed to race again, RED LANCER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When the gates opened, AMOUR bounded in the air. LUCKY MASTER and CHIU CHOW HERO were slow to begin. Shortly after the start, SEA CORAL was crowded for room between HOWSON and HEALTHY HEART, both of which shifted ground. Approaching the 800 Metres, SEA CORAL, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of WATCH KING. Some inconvenience was caused to SUPREME which was following. Near the 600 Metres, SUPREME was momentarily steadied when crowded for room between L'ENFANT and CASH KING which shifted out slightly. For some distance after straightening, SEA CORAL was held up and unable to obtain clear running and near the 200 Metres was shifted to the outside of FORTUNE MAPLE to obtain clear running. At the 300 Metres, WATCH KING, which had commenced to give ground, got its head up when being steadied after being crowded for room between WINWIN COMBINATION which shifted in slightly and HEALTHY HEART which shifted to the outside of SUN POWER to improve. For some distance after the 200 Metres, FANTASTIC STAR had difficulty obtaining clear running. Throughout the race, WINWIN COMBINATION travelled in a forward position, however, was wide and without cover. FANTASTIC STAR, LUCKY MASTER and CASH KING were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported that WATCH KING had lost its left hind plate.
