Racing Incident Report

GREEN DIAMOND began awkwardly and shortly afterwards was steadied when crowded for room between MOVE IT and DANHERO which shifted in. CALIFORNIA HAWK and STAR PRODIGY were slow to begin. Shortly after the start, STAR PRODIGY was steadied away from the heels of GOODY which shifted in after making contact with THE ACHIEVER. After the 1000 Metres, FORTE got its head on the side and hung in away from the heels of DANHERO. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, FORTE hung out badly and caused crowding on its outside to BOBO WIN and CALIFORNIA HAWK, both of which were hampered and carried wider. FORTE continued to hang out badly making the turn and in the Straight gave ground. FORTE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of FORTE after the race did not reveal any significant abnormalities. The performance of FORTE was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FORTE will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial around a turn and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. In the middle stages, BOBO WIN hung out. After the 300 Metres, GOODY, which was beginning to close the race off nicely, was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of FANTASY, then near the 100 Metres got its head on the side and shifted in, causing FANTASY to be carried in. At the 100 Metres, THE ACHIEVER shifted out and bumped DANHERO. Throughout the race, from the outside barrier, CALIFORNIA HAWK raced wide and without cover and then in the Straight gave ground. CALIFORNIA HAWK was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, CALIFORNIA HAWK was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, CALIFORNIA HAWK will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. KEY TO SUCCESS and THE ACHIEVER were sent for sampling.
