Racing Incident Report

On jumping, BUDDIES SPIRIT bounded in the air and as a consequence was slightly slow to begin, then shortly afterwards was awkwardly placed inside the heels of HOLY QUEST. After this, BUDDIES SPIRIT raced wide and without cover for the remainder of the race and in the Straight gave ground. BUDDIES SPIRIT was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. A veterinary examination of BUDDIES SPIRIT after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of BUDDIES SPIRIT, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, BUDDIES SPIRIT will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, ALBELA was bumped by FUN CRUISER which shifted in. After the 400 Metres, SMILING FOREST was steadied and shifted to the outside of BUDDIES SPIRIT into clear running. At the 250 Metres, HOLY QUEST, which was commencing to give ground, was brushed by FUN CRUISER which at this time shifted out. Near the 100 Metres, Apprentice P H Lo (SMILING FOREST) was struck on the left hand by the whip of C Williams (BRILLIANT EXPRESS). Apprentice H W Lai (BUDDIES SPIRIT) explained after the 800 Metres he looked back to his inside to see if there was sufficient room for him to shift to a position behind HOLY QUEST and thereby giving himself some cover. He said however when he looked, KING PALM was racing to his inside and there was insufficient room for him to shift to that position. WINNING EMPEROR was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of WINNING EMPEROR after the race did not show any significant findings. KING PALM and BOLD FIGHTER were sent for sampling.
