Racing Incident Report
GOLD MASTER began very awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of VICTORY TURBO which also began awkwardly. As a consequence of this, both horses lost ground. BRILLIANT WIN began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of FIRM OFFER. After this, BRILLIANT WIN raced most ungenerously, got its head up on a number of occasions and hung out, near the 600 Metres and again on straightening was checked away from the heels of FIRM OFFER. The racing manners of BRILLIANT WIN were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BRILLIANT WIN will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, FIRM OFFER commenced to hang out and was steadied when tight inside FAIR WIN. Coming off the turn at the 1000 Metres, GOLD MASTER became unbalanced and hung out. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, FIRM OFFER got its head on the side, hung out and was steadied away from the heels of SOUTH CHINA NINETY. Near the 200 Metres, FLYING SPRINTER and SOUTH CHINA NINETY brushed. Near the 100 Metres, WONDERFUL BOY was momentarily steadied away from the heels of FLYING SPRINTER which at this time was carried out slightly by SOUTH CHINA NINETY. O Doleuze (MAJIN BUU) was reminded of his obligations to ride his horse out at least hands and heels right to the winning post wherever possible. When questioned regarding the improved performance of GOLDEN STRIDE, Mr P F Yiu, the trainer of the horse, said it had previously shown its preference racing over this course and distance. He said its most recent starts were at Sha Tin, the last of which the horse raced over the straight 1000 Metres on the inside rail some 4 to 5 lengths behind another runner. He said on this occasion the horse had been slow to begin and did not seem to put in. He said it was therefore decided to return the horse to Happy Valley in the hope of an improved performance. Mr Yiu said his retained rider, Y Lerner, had been riding GOLDEN STRIDE during this season, however, because the horse had not been performing up to the expectations, he at the request of the owner engaged M Rodd to ride the horse tonight in the hope this might bring about an improved performance. Mr Yiu said he had been satisfied with the manner in which the horse had been ridden by Y Lerner at its previous starts. ELETTARIN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, ELETTARIN was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ELETTARIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MAJIN BUU, GOLDEN STRIDE and HEKYLL N' JYDE were sent for sampling.
