Racing Incident Report
The Stewards tonight interviewed Mr J Size, trainer of PROGRESSING TIMES, as to the circumstances regarding the horse being mistakenly treated with E-gard yesterday morning. E-gard is a stomach ulcer medication. PROGRESSING TIMES was withdrawn by order of the Stewards and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter CLASSA WIN (S Elliott). Mr Size pleaded guilty to a charge of Rule 50(2) in that he was negligent in the running of his stable and was fined $20,000. NOBLE BOSS was slow to begin. On jumping, CLASSA WIN became unbalanced after being bumped by PERFECT MISSION which shifted in abruptly. ABLE MARSHALL began awkwardly, causing A Suborics, its rider, to become unbalanced. Shortly after this, ABLE MARSHALL was bumped by DOUBLE HAPPINESS which shifted out. Shortly after the start, ROMANTIC SYMPHONY and MODERN PROSPECT were steadied when crowded for room between LUCKY STALLION which shifted out and FORTUNE LIFE which was carried in by PERFECT MISSION which at this time had its head on the side and was hanging in. Near the 500 Metres, DOUBLE HAPPINESS was steadied away from the heels of ORIENTAL which shifted in after being disappointed for running between ABLE MARSHALL and DANEHILL WARRIOR. Near the 250 Metres, SHABU SHABU was steadied and shifted in when disappointed for running between PERFECT MISSION and CLASSA WIN. After this, SHABU SHABU was held up and unable to obtain clear running until after the 200 Metres. Near the 200 Metres, DOUBLE HAPPINESS was shifted to the inside of ABLE MARSHALL which was commencing to give ground. Throughout the race, PERFECT MISSION travelled wide and without cover. ROMANTIC SYMPHONY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, ROMANTIC SYMPHONY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ROMANTIC SYMPHONY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ORIENTAL and DANEHILL WARRIOR were sent for sampling.
