Racing Incident Report

R Fradd was declared as the rider of both TANAHMERAH and EAST OCEAN DRAGON at declaration time. It was established that R Fradd had a firm commitment to EAST OCEAN DRAGON. D Dunn was substituted as the rider of TANAHMERAH. R Fradd was fined $2,000 for this double declaration. DANRIVA began awkwardly, bumped the outside gate of its stall and lost ground. FANTASTIC WIN and PARADIS began awkwardly. In the early stages, SPEEDING MOLLY and FANTASTIC WIN proved difficult to settle. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, PARADIS was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of CLASSA VICTORY. In the early part of the Straight, SUPER IDEAL was steadied and shifted to the outside of SHABU SHABU to obtain clear running. Over the concluding stages, PARADIS and GOOD HEART raced tight. W Woods (DIAMOND MOON) explained he had been instructed to ride the horse in a rearward position. He said when trained by a different stable, DIAMOND MOON had not been finding the line, it was therefore intended to ride the horse near the rear today and ensure it closed the race off if possible. He said in the Straight he commenced to ride DIAMOND MOON along hands and heels and the horse responded to his riding and after the 200 Metres he shifted it to the outside of SHABU SHABU to continue going forward, however, when he did this, he was unable to obtain clear running between SHABU SHABU and SUPER IDEAL which shifted in. Because of this, he was not able to ride DIAMOND MOON over about the last 100 Metres. D Dunn (TANAHMERAH) explained he had been instructed to ride the horse about midfield. He said however the horse began well, immediately travelled into the bridle and because of the relatively steady tempo of today's race travelled further forward than was anticipated. TANAHMERAH and SPEEDING MOLLY were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of TANAHMERAH and SPEEDING MOLLY after the race did not show any significant findings. The Stewards will afford G Schofield an opportunity to explain the poor performance of SPEEDING MOLLY at a date to be fixed. SUPER IDEAL, CIRCUIT KINGDOM and SUPER CHARGE were sent for sampling.
