Racing Incident Report

NATURAL MODEL began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. BROSE'S HONOR began awkwardly and bumped the inside gate of its stall. SALUZI and FOREVER WIN were slow to begin. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, BROSE'S HONOR turned its head out and attempted to savage SALUZI. Mr K L Man, trainer of BROSE'S HONOR, was advised a warning would be recorded against the horse and should it perform similarly in future further action may be taken. T Mundry (FOREVER WIN) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after passing the winning post on the first occasion he shifted his mount in when not clear of SALUZI and BROSE'S HONOR, causing both horses to lose their rightful running and be checked. T Mundry was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday 4 April 2004 on which day he may resume race riding (5 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin meeting next Saturday 13 March 2004. In the early stages, HIGHLAND DAWN raced wide and without cover and near the 1000 Metres was allowed to stride forward closer to the lead, however, remained racing without cover. Near the 1300 Metres, NATURAL MODEL got its head up and was checked away from the heels of ON SHAN EXPRESS. After the 1200 Metres, CITI CENTRE got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of OSCAR STAR after being disappointed for running when attempting to shift to the outside of the heels of that horse and racing tight inside ON SHAN EXPRESS. At the 800 Metres, FOREVER WIN was steadied away from the heels of ACME OF SURPRISE. For some distance approaching and passing the 400 Metres, FOREVER WIN was held up and unable to improve when racing behind ACME OF SURPRISE and inside NATURAL MODEL. On straightening, KINGSTON GLORY got its head on the side and was reluctant to shift out. At the 200 Metres, FOREVER WIN was shifted to the outside of BRAVE COMMANDER to continue going forward. Also at the 200 Metres, KINGSTON GLORY was steadied and shifted to the outside of ACME OF SURPRISE to continue going forward. BROSE'S HONOR was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of BROSE'S HONOR after the race did not reveal any significant abnormalities. CITI CENTRE and FOREVER WIN were sent for sampling.
