Racing Incident Report

GOLDEN STIRRUP was slow to begin, then tailed out. GOLDEN STIRRUP was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, GOLDEN STIRRUP was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed the horse to have a distorted larynx. The performance of GOLDEN STIRRUP was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GOLDEN STIRRUP will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Near the 1200 Metres, KNIGHT TEMPLAR was steadied away from the heels of ALWAYS ZIETEN which at this time was steadied and shifted in to a position behind MAGIC TEMPLE. After the 200 Metres, TREASURE FIELD hung out. In the Straight, WINWIN COMBO hung out when giving ground. Throughout the race, DESERT STRIKE raced wide and without cover. A Marcus (SOLAR) said he had intended to ride the horse forward of midfield, however, the horse began only fairly, immediately other runners went forward, so he elected to shift across in the hope of being able to obtain a position with cover. He said when he did this, passing the 1600 Metres the pace of the race slowed and when he was following WINWIN COMBO, that horse became unbalanced when racing tight inside STOIC. He said as a result of this, he raced further back than was intended in a slowly run race. He added in the Straight SOLAR over the final 200 Metres hung in badly and proved difficult to ride out. The explanation submitted by A Marcus was accepted. S Dye (BEING FAMOUS) explained in the early stages he was following ALWAYS ZIETEN in a one off position, but near the 1200 Metres when that horse shifted to the fence he was then left racing to the outside of KNIGHT TEMPLAR without cover. He said he was satisfied with the manner in which his horse was travelling and he believed he was racing in a position to hold KNIGHT TEMPLAR on the fence, however, making the turn at the 800 Metres BEING FAMOUS got its head on the side, shifted out a little bit and as soon as this happened KNIGHT TEMPLAR shifted away from the rail on its inside and carried him to a three wide position. He said KNIGHT TEMPLAR then improved to race outside ALWAYS ZIETEN. He added after this he rode BEING FAMOUS along, however, the horse failed to respond to his riding and was unable to maintain his position. S Dye was told his explanation would be reported. BEING FAMOUS was for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of BEING FAMOUS after the race did not show any significant findings. DESERT STRIKE, KNIGHT TEMPLAR and STOIC were sent for sampling.
