Racing Incident Report
At declaration time the official gear changes for today's meeting incorrectly showed VROOM VROOM as having a sole gear change of blinkers removed. On 11 October 2004 approval was given to an application for an additional gear change to race VROOM VROOM in blinker with one cowl only. As such VROOM VROOM raced in blinker with one cowl only. The circumstances surrounding this matter will be reviewed and a report issued in due course. TOM'S FIRST was slow to begin. DETERMINATION was a little slow to begin, then shortly afterwards was crowded for room between EQUATOR KID and JOYFUL SPIRIT which shifted out. In the early stages, DETERMINATION got its head up when over-racing. After this, DETERMINATION raced wide and without cover for the majority of the race. Approaching the 1400 Metres when proving difficult to settle, MY CHOICE got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of AMBITIOUS TYCOON. Near the 700 Metres, LUCKY PARADISE shifted in and brushed the running rail. On straightening, EQUATOR KID was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of TOM'S FIRST and inside FLYING BISHOP. Near the 300 Metres, MY CHOICE was checked severely when disappointed for running between DETERMINATION and CHEEKY. Also at this point, LUCKSWELL was shifted in to avoid VROOM VROOM which was weakening and in doing so hampered LUCKY PARADISE. At the 200 Metres, MY CHOICE was again steadied when disappointed for running on the inside of CHEEKY which shifted in slightly. Over the concluding stages, AMBITIOUS TYCOON shifted out, obliging its rider to stop riding and straighten. W M Lai (KEEN MARSHAL) said he had been instructed to ride the horse in midfield, however, as a result of being a little slow to begin and then slow to muster speed, it got further back than was intended. HIGH INTELLIGENT and FLORAL DYNAMITE were sent for sampling.
