Racing Incident Report

FUJI SUNRISE and DEEP PURPLE were slow to begin. WAVY PEAK began awkwardly. Near the 1600 Metres, HAPPY HEROES was momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of TELECOM TYCOON which shifted out after being crossed by BARRACUDA. Approaching and passing the 1400 Metres, HAPPY HEROES proved very difficult to settle and was checked away from the heels of BARRACUDA. When being checked, HAPPY HEROES bumped MADE IN HONGKONG. At the 1400 Metres, SOLAR got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of FOREVER WIN. In the early stages, MADE IN HONGKONG proved difficult to settle. After the 400 Metres, DOUBLE PLEASURE and DEEP PURPLE bumped. After the 400 Metres, BOUNTIFUL was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of SOLAR. Also after the 400 Metres, TREASURE FIELD was struck over the head by the whip of A Starke (SOLAR). Near the 300 Metres, TREASURE FIELD and SOLAR bumped. A Delpech (BOUNTIFUL) said after the 600 Metres his mount was not travelling particularly well and he allowed SHENANEGAN to cross to the rail in front of him. He said he did this because he was under firm instructions that he was to ensure in the Home Straight he made his run wide on the track as it is thought the horse does not perform best when racing inside other runners. He said by allowing SHENANEGAN to cross to the fence, he was then able to shift away from the rail into the two wide line to ensure he was able to shift out after straightening. The explanation of A Delpech was accepted. SHENANEGAN was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of SHENANEGAN after the race did not show any significant findings. DOUBLE PLEASURE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, DOUBLE PLEASURE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, DOUBLE PLEASURE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BARRACUDA and FUJI SUNRISE were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported HAPPY HEROES had bled from both nostrils and MADE IN HONGKONG had lost its right front plate.
