Racing Incident Report

GREENESSY was slow to begin, then was bumped and lost further ground when being checked away from the heels of ADAIKALI which on jumping shifted out abruptly. LANCETTIER, with the intention to be ridden quietly today, was slow to begin. ROMANTIC SYMPHONY was slow to begin. In the early stages, ADAIKALI proved difficult to settle. At the 1300 Metres, ROMANTIC SYMPHONY was crowded for room inside LANCETTIER which improved inside LUCKY CHAMPION. Until the 800 Metres, MULTI MILLIONS raced wide and without cover. Prior to straightening, LANCETTIER was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of ADAIKALI. At the 300 Metres, ADAIKALI, which was giving ground, was bumped by MULTI MILLIONS. After the 200 Metres, LANCETTIER, which was beginning to close the race off strongly, was momentarily steadied when unable to continue improving between GREENESSY which was giving ground and HAPPY CRUSADER. R Fradd (HAPPY CRUSADER) said it had been intended to have the horse somewhere behind midfield. He said HAPPY CRUSADER began well, immediately travelled into a forward position and he was following GREENESSY in the early stages. He said after the 1200 Metres GREENESSY went forward and he did not ride HAPPY CRUSADER along to go forward with that horse because of the instructions he had been given. He said because of this near the 800 Metres MULTI MILLIONS was able to shift in front of him to a position with cover. R Fradd was told his explanation would be recorded and he should where circumstances permit do his utmost to hold his position. G Mossé (MULTI MILLIONS) was unable to offer any explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said he enjoyed a good run throughout, however, he did note MULTI MILLIONS changed legs on several occasions. He said it might be that the horse was not comfortable on today's track conditions. MULTI MILLIONS was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. SERIOUS PLAY and ADAIKALI were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MULTI MILLIONS, SERIOUS PLAY and ADAIKALI after the race did not show any significant findings. VERY FIT and GOLD STRIKER were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 14 March 2005)
SERIOUS PLAY, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. SERIOUS PLAY was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer L Ho this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have an inflamed right front fetlock. Before being allowed to race again, SERIOUS PLAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
