Racing Incident Report
SPEED OF LIGHT began awkwardly, bumped the outside gate of its stall and then made contact with KINGSTON GLORY. GOT IT GOOD, which was standing badly, began awkwardly, shifted out, bumped the hindquarters of SWEET SMILE and then in the early stages proved difficult to settle. SWAGGIE was slow to begin. MILLENNIUM DAWN was slow to begin, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of HARVEST GALA. From the outside gate, with the intention of being ridden quietly, PREMIER CRU was immediately steadied and taken back behind runners to a position on the rail. After the 1000 Metres, WYNDHAM PROFIT, which was racing wide and without cover, was allowed to stride forward and cross to race outside the leader. Shortly after straightening, SWEET SMILE was bumped and carried wider by GOT IT GOOD which at this time shifted to the outside of WYNDHAM PROFIT into clear running. Also shortly after straightening, TURBOJET became unbalanced when crowded for room between HARVEST GALA and COTTON BALL. At the same time, FUNNY FACE was bumped by LUCKY ENCOUNTER which shifted towards the outside of HARVEST GALA to obtain clear running. For some distance after the 400 Metres, SPEED OF LIGHT had difficulty obtaining clear running. Almost right on the winning post, LUCKY ENCOUNTER was inconvenienced by SPEED OF LIGHT which got its head on the side and shifted in. In the Straight, LUCKY ENCOUNTER hung in. KINGSTON GLORY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, KINGSTON GLORY, which finished tailed out, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat. Before being allowed to race again, KINGSTON GLORY will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. COTTON BALL and SPEED OF LIGHT were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported HARVEST GALA had lost its left front plate.
