Racing Incident Report

AMBITION was slow to begin. GLORY YEARS and HAPPY WINNING bumped at the start. GUNG HO began awkwardly. Making the first turn, ESCALATION got its head on the side and hung in. At the entrance to the Straight, AMBITION, which was being shifted out into clear running, was momentarily awkwardly placed on the heels of HAPPY ELITE. For some distance after the 400 Metres, EVEREST was held up when unable to obtain clear running behind GLORY YEARS and inside HEALTHY. GUNG HO was inclined to hang in under pressure in the Straight. ESCALATION and TRUST ME were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, ESCALATION was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise. A veterinary inspection of TRUST ME after the race did not show any significant findings. GLORY YEARS, GUNG HO and HAPPY WINNING were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported HAPPY ELITE was making an abnormal breathing noise. He said an endoscopic examination showed the horse to be a "roarer".
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 11 April 2005)
ESCALATION, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise. ESCALATION was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer A T Millard yesterday morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the right front leg with a sore and enlarged left front tendon. Before being permitted to race again, ESCALATION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
