Racing Incident Report

On jumping, MILLION SUCCESS was checked when crowded for room between AURELIAN and RELY ON ME which shifted in abruptly. HERO OF ABALONE began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall, causing Y T Cheng, its rider, to lose the use of his left stirrup for a short distance. In the early stages, LUCKY WINNER proved very difficult to settle and on a number of occasions got its head up. After the 800 Metres, when being steadied LUCKY WINNER again got its head up. For a short distance near the 400 Metres, SOLAR POWER had difficulty obtaining clear running behind FLASH HARRY and inside WIN HUNTER. After the 300 Metres, AURELIAN was bumped by GOOD NATURE which at this time got its head on the side and drifted out. Throughout the race, WIN HUNTER raced wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. WIN HUNTER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, WIN HUNTER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, WIN HUNTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. The performance of HERO OF ABALONE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, HERO OF ABALONE will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. S Dye (GOOD NATURE), which was stepping up in distance to 1400 Metres today, explained the intention had been in the early stages to clear HERO OF ABALONE which had drawn to his inside and shift to the fence. He said he was able to clear HERO OF ABALONE in the early stages, then GOOD NATURE ended up in a position trailing the leaders. He said whilst this was further forward than he had anticipated the manner in which GOOD NATURE had travelled and the way in which the race was run led to him obtaining this position. JOYFUL WORLD was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of JOYFUL WORLD after the race did not show any significant findings. LUCKY WINNER, SOLAR POWER and SILVERBIRD were sent for sampling.
