Racing Incident Report

FLASHING STAR began awkwardly. BLUE STITCH, which was standing with its head turned to the right, was slow to begin. TRIUMPHANT UNICORN began awkwardly, bumped the inside gate of its stall and as a consequence lost ground. Near the 1100 Metres, FIFTY FIFTY, which was being hard ridden to make up ground after beginning only fairly, became unbalanced when crowded for room inside EVERY TIME (W M Lai) which shifted in when not clear. W M Lai was severely reprimanded and told to exercise more care. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, FLASHING STAR was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of CLASSIC NAVIGATOR which at this time shifted in when only just clear. After the 600 Metres, GOODY was steadied away from the heels of FIFTY FIFTY which was checked when awkwardly placed close to the heels of EVERY TIME. Making the Home Turn, FIFTY FIFTY was held up and unable to improve between EVERY TIME and CLASSIC NAVIGATOR. Shortly after straightening, FIFTY FIFTY was shifted to the inside of EVERY TIME. After the 300 Metres, ABSOLUTE CHAMPION, which was hanging out, shifted wider on the track. As R Fradd, the rider of ABSOLUTE CHAMPION, endeavoured to pull his whip through to his left hand near the 100 Metres, he lost control of the whip and dropped it. For the major part of the race, GENERAL KINGY raced wide and without cover. TRIUMPHANT UNICORN was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, TRIUMPHANT UNICORN, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, TRIUMPHANT UNICORN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BILLET EXPRESS and GOODY were sent for sampling.
