Racing Incident Report

When being weighed prior to the race, JADE DANCER became fractious, resulting in it having both front legs caught over a partition of the scales. JADE DANCER was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion the horse was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of JADE DANCER. Before being allowed to race again, JADE DANCER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Whilst parading prior to the race, FLORAL PEGASUS shifted its left front plate. This plate was reset. FLORAL PEGASUS was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After being boxed, FLORAL PEGASUS became fractious, reared and had its right front leg momentarily caught over an adjoining partition of the barriers. FLORAL PEGASUS was removed from its stall and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of FLORAL PEGASUS. Before being allowed to race again FLORAL PEGASUS will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Also after being boxed, PIONERO became fractious and hit the sides of its barrier which caused the left stirrup of S Dye, the horse's rider, to break. This stirrup was replaced prior to the start. EXHILARATION stood flat-footed at the start and lost ground. LUCKY GUYS was slow to muster speed, then shortly after the start blundered when crowded for room between TELECOM PRINCESS and GANBARIA which shifted in away from PEACH BLOSSOM. Near the 1000 Metres, EXHILARATION, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, CLASSIC HORSE, which from a wide barrier had been racing wide and without cover, lost ground and was carried wider by EXHILARATION which at this time shifted out. Also making the turn at the 800 Metres, DR HAENSLER was steadied away from the heels of PEACH BLOSSOM which was carried wider by GANBARIA. At the 300 Metres, CLASSIC HORSE, which was beginning to close the race off, was hampered and carried wider by LUCKY GUYS which shifted out. After the 100 Metres, TREASURE COLT got its head up and shifted out. Because of this, D Whyte, its rider, stopped riding and straightened his mount. Over the concluding stages, CLASSIC HORSE shifted in. In the Straight, GANBARIA hung in and proved difficult to ride. Mr J Size, trainer of RELY ON ME which was racing first up today, explained last season the horse was somewhat immature. He said in preparation for today's race RELY ON ME, which had matured significantly during its spell, had shown good speed in its barrier trials and because of this he instructed C Munce, the horse's rider, to follow the pace or alternatively lead if the pace was not genuine. RELY ON ME and TREASURE COLT were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted LUCKY GUYS had blood present at its left nostril. An endoscopic examination showed the horse's trachea to be clean and as such LUCKY GUYS was deemed not to have bled.
