Racing Incident Report
When the gates opened, DENDRANTHEMA LOVE bounded in the air, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of SPLENDID SAILS. SUNRISE LINING was slow to begin. SUNRISE STRIKER began awkwardly. FINGERS CROSSED was slow to begin. From a wide barrier, on jumping, FLORAL FOKANZA was taken across behind runners, then making the turn after the 800 Metres hung out. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, DANCING FAITH got its head up and shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of PLEZAYRE. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, HAPPY CRUSADER was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of PLEZAYRE. For some distance after this, HAPPY CRUSADER continued to be awkwardly placed close to the heels of PLEZAYRE. After the 600 Metres, FINGERS CROSSED was steadied away from the heels of HAPPY CRUSADER. FRAMES DEPOT, which was following, was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of FINGERS CROSSED. On straightening, GLOBAL LEADER was shifted to the outside of DANSING FUN to obtain clear running. In the early part of the Straight, SPLENDID SAILS hung in and got its head up. Because of this, near the 200 Metres, C Brown, its rider, changed the whip into his right hand. SPLENDID SAILS was then awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAPPY CRUSADER over the final 100 Metres. Also in the early part of the Straight, DENDRANTHEMA LOVE proved difficult to shift out into clear running. Throughout the race, SUNRISE STRIKER travelled wide and without cover. FLORAL FOKANZA was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FLORAL FOKANZA after the race did not show any significant findings. PLEZAYRE and GLOBAL LEADER were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 27 March 2006)
FLORAL FOKANZA, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. FLORAL FOKANZA was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A S Cruz this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be sore over the right front tendon area. Before being allowed to race again, FLORAL FOKANZA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
