Racing Incident Report
Shortly after the start, ROCKET WIN shifted out and bumped EYE WITNESS when being steadied away from the heels of FLYING KENNY which was carried wider by DANEHILL WARRIOR. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, EYE WITNESS failed to muster speed and near the winning post on the first occasion was steadied away from the heels of EVERGREEN. After the 1200 Metres, DANEHILL WARRIOR was bumped by ABLE KNIGHT which when racing wide and without cover shifted in. Near the 900 Metres, ROCKET WIN got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of FLYING KENNY. Prior to straightening, FLYING KENNY was awkwardly placed inside the heels of EVERGREEN. On straightening, CIRCUIT KINGDOM became unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of MR COOL. At the 200 Metres, EVERGREEN was steadied when awkwardly placed between ABLE KNIGHT and DANEHILL WARRIOR. Also at the 200 Metres, ROCKET WIN was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of EYE WITNESS. When questioned, Apprentice H W Lai (DANEHILL WARRIOR) explained in the early stages his mount proved somewhat difficult to settle and after the 1200 Metres when following MR COOL, that horse endeavoured to steady the tempo by sitting off ELEGANT KING PRAWN. He said after entering the Back Straight DANEHILL WARRIOR travelled close to the heels of MR COOL and when being steadied got its head on the side, hung out and shifted to a three wide position. He said when this occurred, CIRCUIT KINGDOM quickly improved to his inside which prevented him from shifting back to a two wide position. Y T Cheng (MR COOL) said he had been instructed from a wide barrier to go forward and if the pace was slow it would be acceptable for him to lead providing he was not required to make too much use of the horse. He said accordingly he rode MR COOL along in the early stages, however, it became apparent ELEGANT KING PRAWN was intent on holding the lead, therefore he elected to remain racing outside that horse. Mr K L Man, trainer of MR COOL, explained because of the manner in which the horse was ridden last time where it caused interference to runners behind, he felt tonight from a wide barrier it was important for the horse to go forward and he believed it would not be possible to obtain a position with cover in 3rd or 4th, he therefore instructed Y T Cheng to ensure he did not travel wide. Mr Man was reminded of his obligations to have horses ridden in a consistent manner where circumstances permit. The performance of MR COOL, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, MR COOL will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. RELY ON ME, EXCELLENT BOY and EYE WITNESS were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported FLYING KENNY had sustained a cut to the left hind cannon. Before being allowed to race again, FLYING KENNY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
