Racing Incident Report

SAFETY FIRST was withdrawn on 14.11.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (fever). Before being allowed to race again, SAFETY FIRST will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PERFECT TIME was slow to begin. NAMJONG GOODLUCK was a little slow to begin, then shortly afterwards lost further ground when crowded for room between KAISER'S PRIZE and ARROGANCE which shifted out. Shortly after the start, WORLD SERIES was steadied when awkwardly placed between OPERA MAGIC and ONLY YOU. Making the first turn, MASTER ABLE was steadied and shifted in across the heels of WORLD SERIES. Also making the first turn, THE ELEGANT GREY hung out badly, ran off, continued to race wide throughout and finished tailed out. The performance of THE ELEGANT GREY was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, THE ELEGANT GREY will have to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial around a bend and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. THE ELEGANT GREY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, THE ELEGANT GREY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse had bled from both nostrils. At the 1400 Metres, PERFECT TIME, which had been hard ridden to make ground, was checked to avoid the heels of ARROGANCE (Y T Cheng) which after commencing to shift in when clear got its head on the side and was reluctant to continue going forward. In the circumstances, Y T Cheng was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. Approaching the turn at the 700 Metres, PERFECT TIME and KAISER'S PRIZE raced tight. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, ARROGANCE was steadied away from the heels of LUCKY DANSKE which commenced to give ground. At the 700 Metres, MASTER ABLE got its head up when being steadied while awkwardly placed between NAMJONG GOODLUCK and THUNDER MAN. Near the 600 Metres, LUCKY DANSKE got its head up, shifted out and was steadied away from the heels of ONLY YOU. ARROGANCE, which was following, was steadied and shifted out. After the 600 Metres, KAISER'S PRIZE was carried wider by PERFECT TIME which shifted towards the outside of ONLY YOU. For some distance after this, PERFECT TIME and KAISER'S PRIZE raced tight. For some distance after the 600 Metres, MASTER ABLE got its head up when close to the heels of THUNDER MAN. When under pressure over the concluding stages, MASTER ABLE hung in. The performances of LUCKY DANSKE and WORLD SERIES, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY DANSKE and WORLD SERIES will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the poor performance of THUNDER MAN, G Mossé said at no stage of the race did the horse feel comfortable and he was concerned with its action. Before being allowed to race again, THUNDER MAN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. LUCKY DANSKE, THUNDER MAN and WORLD SERIES were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY DANSKE, THUNDER MAN and WORLD SERIES after the race did not show any significant findings. SHINING DAY, MASTER ABLE and ARROGANCE were sent for sampling.

THE ELEGANT GREY
THE ELEGANT GREY, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time the horse had bled from both nostrils. THE ELEGANT GREY was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer S Woods yesterday morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the right front leg. As previously advised, THE ELEGANT GREY will have to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial around a bend and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
THUNDER MAN
THUNDER MAN, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. THUNDER MAN was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer Y S Tsui yesterday morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be sore in the left front suspensory. As previously advised, THUNDER MAN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
