Racing Incident Report

SELF FLIT and SIKANDER were slow to begin. GOOD BA BA began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. PHANTOM THIEF began awkwardly and with the intention of being ridden in a rearward position threw its head about. BEING FAMOUS was a little slow to begin and then was steadied away from the heels of RICE FIELD which shifted in abruptly. After the 1400 Metres, GOOD BA BA and BEING FAMOUS bumped when crowded for room inside SUNBELL which at this time itself was awkwardly placed after being ridden to obtain a position on the inside of CRYSTAL which shifted in when not quite clear. In the circumstances, no action was taken. When SUNBELL shifted out to relieve the pressure to the runners on its inside, inconvenience was then caused to RICE FIELD which got its head up and shifted out abruptly. Due to the pace in the early stages of the race, a number of runners proved difficult to settle, the worst affected being SELF FLIT, GOOD NATURE, RICE FIELD and PHANTOM THIEF. At the 800 Metres, PHANTOM THIEF was steadied when awkwardly placed between PACKING ANGEL and DASHING THUNDER. At the 400 Metres, GOOD NATURE was steadied away from the heels of GOOD BA BA. Near the 200 Metres, BEING FAMOUS, which was commencing to give ground, was hampered and carried wider by GOOD NATURE which shifted out abruptly to obtain clear running. Near the 100 Metres, FASHION JEWELLERY, which was giving ground, was steadied when crowded for room inside CRYSTAL which got its head on the side and shifted in away from GREAT ACHIEVEMENT after initially being carried in by that horse. For a considerable part of the race, SUNBELL travelled wide and without cover. The performance of PHANTOM THIEF, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, PHANTOM THIEF will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BEING FAMOUS and SUNBELL were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of BEING FAMOUS and SUNBELL after the race did not show any significant findings. GOOD NATURE and GOOD BA BA were sent for sampling.
