Racing Incident Report

THE ONLY ONE was slow to begin and lost further ground when being steadied away from the heels of LUMINOUS which shifted in. OSCAR STAR, CHATER SILK and KING OF WIN were slow to begin. Prior to straightening, OSCAR STAR was awkwardly placed inside the heels of ABLE ONE. On straightening, LUMINOUS was bumped on the hindquarters by ENTERTAINING which at this time shifted out. At the 350 Metres, LIVERBIRD was awkwardly placed behind SUPER CHARGE which itself was unable to improve between SWIFT GERMANIA and LUCKY UNICORN. At the 100 Metres, CHINA SPORTFIELD was steadied and shifted to the inside of ENTERTAINING to continue going forward. In the Straight, ABLE ONE got its head on the side and hung in. Throughout the race, LUMINOUS travelled wide and without cover. F Coetzee (LUCKY UNICORN) said it became apparent shortly after the start that SWIFT GERMANIA which had drawn outside him was going forward to lead, he therefore elected to allow that horse to cross and travel outside it. He said LUCKY UNICORN travelled comfortably in this position, however, making the Home Turn hung out. He said in the Straight LUCKY UNICORN did not respond to his riding as he would have liked. LUCKY UNICORN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY UNICORN after the race did not show any significant findings. ABLE ONE and LUMINOUS were sent for sampling.
