Racing Incident Report

SECRET OF KINGS was slow to begin. On jumping, SING FAY FAY was taken across behind runners. From a wide gate, after beginning awkwardly, FAIR WIN was taken across behind runners. When FAIR WIN began awkwardly, D Dunn, its rider, struck his right foot on the barriers, as a result of which he was placed at a disadvantage. D Whyte (ARMADA) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 800 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of TREASURE RAIDERS, causing that horse to be carried in across the rightful running of MASTER MARAUDER which as a result was checked. D Whyte was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 20 April 2006 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting on Wednesday 12 April 2006. In addition, D Whyte was fined $40,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. When MASTER MARAUDER checked, SECRET OF KINGS and LIVERBIRD, which were following, were hampered in consequence. At the 700 Metres, LIVERBIRD was checked to avoid the heels of SING FAY FAY after being carried out by SECRET OF KINGS which itself was checked to avoid the heels of MASTER MARAUDER which was steadied away from the heels of TREASURE RAIDERS. No action was taken. For some distance approaching and passing the 600 Metres, TREASURE RAIDERS, which was proving difficult to settle, was awkwardly placed behind I'M NO SQUARE and inside the heels of ARMADA. ARMADA made the Home Turn awkwardly and shifted wider. At the 250 Metres, MASTER MARAUDER was shifted to the outside of INVERNESS to continue improving. Near the 200 Metres, SPARKLING STAR, which was closing the race off, was shifted out away from the heels of MASTER MARAUDER. Near the 100 Metres, the whip of Apprentice K T Yeung (SING FAY FAY) was knocked from his hand by the whip of R Fradd (VIKING TOR). In the Straight, DRAGON AND GOLD hung out. The performance of INVERNESS, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, INVERNESS will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CALIFORNIA PRINCE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, CALIFORNIA PRINCE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, CALIFORNIA PRINCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ARMADA and DISGUISE were sent for sampling.
