Racing Incident Report

PEACH BLOSSOM was withdrawn on 31.3.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, PEACH BLOSSOM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After arriving at the Start, E Saint-Martin, the rider of CONSTELLATION, expressed concern over the horse's action. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was sore in its left front leg. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of CONSTELLATION. Before being allowed to race again, CONSTELLATION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SPEED OF LIGHT began awkwardly and lost ground. CAPABEL began awkwardly. At the 1100 Metres, when the tempo steadied, CAPABEL, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head on the side, commenced to hang out and was then steadied away from the heels of MAVERICK which shifted out after being steadied away from the heels of PULL NO PUNCH. After this, CAPABEL continued to prove difficult to settle, raced ungenerously and pulled its way into a forward position. After this, CAPABEL travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. CAPABEL was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, CAPABEL was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed the horse to have a pharyngeal collapse. Before being allowed to race again, CAPABEL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. At the 1000 Metres, MAGNIFICENT was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of LOK WAH TREASURE which got its head up and lost ground when being steadied away from the heels of SPEED OF LIGHT. Shortly after straightening, LOK WAH TREASURE was steadied and shifted out to obtain clear running. At the 400 Metres, O Doleuze (PULL NO PUNCH) dropped his whip. Throughout the race, FRIENDS FOREVER hung out, over the concluding stages hung out badly, near the 100 Metres shifted ground and made contact with TO SIR WITH LOVE. NEW TAMAR was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of NEW TAMAR after the race did not show any significant findings. GLORIOUS LIGHT, MAVERICK and MAIN ATTRACTION were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported LOK WAH TREASURE had lost its right hind plate.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 3 April 2006)
Trainer D E Ferraris reported to the Stewards that on Saturday evening his staff noted blood to be present at both nostrils of MAGNIFICENT. MAGNIFICENT was subsequently examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse had bled.
